UM - REHAB NS-04 WETWELL AND INCOMING LINE

Type: Forecast

Overview

Description
(DBB) Rehab/coat wetwell and incoming sewer mains entering station up to second manhole in both directions for the gravity sewer. Station is experiencing heavy infiltration due to tidal influences. Wetwell is leaking into dry well from specific points. Rehabilitate/coat wetwell and incoming wastewater main to the NS-04 pump station that services the SWWCAAS collection system at Mike, Sierra, Yankee, Kilo, and Hotel piers. NS-04 wetwell has cracks in the common wall between wetwell and pump room. Continued degredation can cause the wetwell to flood. The incoming sewer line has severe crown corrosion that allows groundwater infiltration. This project repairs the wetwell NS04 for part of the tertiary treatment process and is necessary to comply with regulatory and permit requirements as it could have severe impacts on treatment operations and would result in regulatory violations and unfavorable media coverage. Without this project, wastewater treatment will be inefficient. JBPHH will remain limited on its capacity to bed-down new personnel or mission. NAVFAC HI OPS has to approve every personnel increase beyond the agreed personnel number due to our sewage cap.
