USCIS has a requirement to obtain the software license renewal for Thales Device HSM (Hardware Security Module) as a Service which is a key component of the overall device certificate automation project. An HSM is a specialized physical device designed to securely store and manage digital keys, cryptographic operations, and sensitive information. They provide a high level of protection for cryptographic processes and serve as a secure foundation for various security applications. Additionally, they offer a range of features including key generation, storage and protection, cryptographic operations (such as encryption and decryption), secure key exchange, and digital signatures. By employing tamper-resistant hardware and robust security mechanisms, HSMs help safeguard sensitive data and cryptographic keys from unauthorized access and tampering attempts. They also support compliance with regulatory standards and provide a trusted platform for building secure systems.
