FEMA's Security Operations teams are to protect, detect, respond, and recover from Information Security (IS) threats to FEMA. Tasks include advising FEMA of proper security measures, encouraging industry best security practices, responding to incoming messaging on the Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) phone extension and email account, issuance of Information System Security (ISS) Alerts, Advisories, Bulletins and ISS related Information messages, incident handling and response, intrusion detection and analysis support, forensics, and metrics reporting. FEMA's goal of achieving Cybersecurity is accomplished by implementing layered defense methodologies.
