Description
This project replaces 12 railroad culverts along the Navy owned 32-mile Shelton-Bremerton strategic railway serving Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS & IMF), Strategic Weapons Facility, Pacific (SWFPAC) and Naval Base Kitsap - Bangor. This phase will replace culverts at MP 1.04 and MP 31.55. Requirement: Provide adequate and reliable railroad systems in support of critical nuclear and nonnuclear operations such as nuclear and strategic materials movements that cannot be shipped over highway systems. The strategic features and locations of these rail systems are key in supporting naval vessels and their enterprise claimants while undergoing repair, overhaul, conversion, recycling or decommissioning at dry docks, piers and production facilities.
