PHNSY - WR152919 K3 HELO PAD FENCE
Type: Forecast
Overview
Description
The existing helo pad fence near B1770 is currently in poor condition. When the helo pad is in use, the end user OT (Ocean Terminals) needs to clear out a majority of the surrounding parking to protect people and vehicles from injury or damage. The parking surrounding the helo pad accomodates the SY workers in B1770 and other federal employees in the buildings nearby. Parking is already a challenge when the helo pad is not in use, so when the helo pad is in use, it takes a significant amount of stalls away.
The goal of this project is to install a blast fence that will protect the people and vehicles from injury or damage without clearing the surrounding parking lot.
*Note that SY does not have the helo pad in AOR.
BDI Inc. provided some initial engineering and drawings based on the Osprey helicopter. From OT, they said that the Osprey is the aircraft that causes the most downpour of draft. BDI could provide the material and supervision services for a contractor during the install. (See attached for fencing layout and detail)
The blast fencing could be fixed into ground or mounted to concrete bases to be movable. Preferably, the blast fencing would be fixed into ground so appropriate funding could be used. There has been discussion for this project to be awarded in FY24 and the funding split 50/50 with SY and JBPHH.
