OCS - Side Scan Sonar recapitalization for the Navigation Response Teams

Type: Forecast • Source ID: 63524

Overview

Description
Office of Coast Survey, Navigation Services Division, Navigation Response Branch requires replacement of the aging side scan sonars for the Navigation Response Teams (NRTs). NRTs use the sonars to conduct hydrographic survey operations to identify wrecks, rocks, obstructions to support Coast Survey's charting mission. Current systems are experiencing degraded data quality and need to be replaced. Side Scan Sonars will be deployed from small boats in the 27' - 30' range and will be pole mounted or side towed on a short stay. For this reason, the side scan sonar must be relatively small and lightweight, yet rugged enough to endure occasional contact with debris typically encountered in waters impacted by hurricanes.
