NSAM A-Feeder Repair
Type: Forecast
Overview
Description
Feeder cables & connectors have faulted several times over the past couple years. Cables are getting shorter
as faulted portions are cut to replace cable connectors. Majority of the Cables are 35+ years old which is
well beyond the service life of 20 years. Few of them though the feeder lines are operational, are closer to 45 years of age. Remove all cables and connectors from each terminating manhole from north to south or east to west to facilitate pulling in new cables and replacing all dead break connectors, splices and "T"s. Proof test all cables at end of construction to ensure cables & connectors have adequate insulation properties. If conduit is not replaced inspection is necessary. Conduct phase rotation checks before demolition of old cables and after new cables are energized on all three phase transformers to ensure proper rotation of three phase electrical loads. Additional work needed will include setting up light plants to locations identified per feeder cable project and generators to facility as needed to include refueling of generator as needed. Scheduling each power outage well in advance to notify base populace.; Status Note (as of 04-SEP-22): (1) Delay to Lock Dates: No, FY23Q2
