NRC Columbus - Reroute Fire Alarm to Base Fire Department
Type: Forecast
Overview
Description
Problem Statement: Current fire alarm system reports to the City of Columbus Fire Department, resulting in response time delays. Reduce delays by fire alarms reporting to the on-base fire department.
Scope of Work: (Recommending FEAD PDC Execution)
Determine the existing FAMN system configuration and communication capabilities for rerouting communications
Procure/Install new communication equipment, lines, antenas, and wiring, to fascilitate routing the fire alarm communications to the on-base fire department
Test fire alarm system to ensure proper communications with on-base fire department
Provide all OMSI and Asset data to the NRC APWO and NRC ET
Justification: Response delays have previously resulted in fire pump damage following a water main break on base, after the fire pump ran without water for an extended period. On-base response times would have minimized the resulting repair costs.
