Overview
Description
Gymnasium was constructed in 1958. Depot level maintenance/replacement of mechanical systems, groom & balance electrical system. The gymnasium gets heavy usage. Besides the 600 permanent party, the usage extends to 350-500 A-school & C-school students, STA Bodega Bay, CGC SOCKEYE, and CG dependents. The number of people using the gym on an annual basis ranges from 70,000 to 100,000 personnel. The gym is also used for all-hands events. Maintaining fitness, compliance with weight standards and general health of the TRACEN family population are impacted as the facilities degrade and require additional maintenance. Impacts if not funded include increased maintenance and energy costs, increased degradation of the facility, and negative impact to health & well-being services for Training Center that serves as a homeport for one-third of the CG's enlisted workforce.
