Dynamic Frequency Comb Applications Support (Indefinite Duration / Indefinite Quantity)

Type: Forecast • Source ID: 62109

Overview

Description
The Government intends to procure Research Assistance to support the Fiber Sources and Applications Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in its ongoing efforts in exploring the use of real-time phase/timing control of the frequency comb pulse train output. Frequency comb-based applications of time-transfer and dual-comb spectroscopy require advanced control algorithms and real-time processing. The Fiber Sources and Applications Group, develops novel applications of frequency combs for optical time transfer, spectroscopy and ranging. Of particular relevance here, this group has developed frequency comb-based optical two-way time-frequency transfer (O-TWTFT) that can allow frequency comparisons and time synchronization across a distributed network of clocks. They have also developed dual-comb spectroscopy for open-path atmospheric sensing. This work requires tight collaboration between laser science and
