Overview
Description
The Tonto National Forest requires this mission essential contract to purchase 200000 tree shelters to protect tree seedlings from browse damage and to provide shade/UV protection on harsh dry sites. The National Forest Management Act requires National Forest lands to be reforested promptly after harvest. The Repairing Existing Public Land by Adding Necessary Trees Act amended NFMA and added areas deforested by wildfire. These tree shelters increase seedling survival which aligns with EO 14225 Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production.
