DRY DOCK 2 REPLACE DRAIN PUMP #3 AND #4 - Replacing drain pumps 3 & 4 with new.

Type: Forecast

Overview

Description
This is considered an emergency project. Due to the urgency of this project, Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHNSY) is requesting to replace in kind two Drydock No. 2 main drain pumps, drain pumps #3 and #4 that seized during pumping operations. The scope shall involve removing the existing main drain pumps and motors, replacing them in kind and shall include all electrical work and appurtenances necessary to get the drain pumps operational. Work may involve concrete foundation work at the base of the pumps. Other incidental work shall include leak checks, alignment checks, resetting all parameters and operational testing. The two drainage pumps serves to isolate the Navy ship by two methods of protection from all potential flooding sources, such as flooding and dewatering systems. The main drain pumps are therefore critical components of the drydock system. The drainage pumps maintain the dry dock floor dry by pumping out the ground and sea water that seeps into the dock through numerous cracks and vertical construction joints on the walls into the drainage system. Amendment A: In addition to replacing the damaged drain pumps, need to include the relocation and replacement of 2 existing stilling wells with new transducers for the automatic operation of the drain pumps. The stilling wells were significantly damaged during the 12 OCT 2023 undocking evolution, where the flooding and dewatering of the dry dock caused the stilling wells to be dislodged from their mounted locations and damaging the tra ...
