Beginning on August 26, 2021, Hurricane Ida caused wind and flood damage across the state of Louisiana. In response, President Biden issued a Major Disaster Declaration on August 29, 2021, designated as DR-4611. On September 17, 2021, FEMA approved a direct housing mission to provide individual assistance (IA) for: St Helena, Tangipahoa, Livingston, St James, St John the Baptist, Plaquemines, Jefferson, St Charles, LaFourche, and Terrebonne Parishes. All direct housing options are authorized under Section 408 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (Stafford Act), as amended. The housing mission was extended in 2025. The temporary housing units are considered federal property and require maintenance until deactivation or sale.
