Description
The project requires the design and construction of a new detainee dormitory at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Krome Service Processing Center. Using the requirements of the Request- for-proposal (RFP), the Design-Builder is to provide, or otherwise procure, professional architecture, engineering, and other design professional services as needed to prepare required drawings, specifications and other design materials as needed for the construction of the dormitory building and associated site work as required.
The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, site earthwork as needed to prepare the site for the new building, selective demolition of site and utility structure elements to accommodate the new dormitory, foundations, superstructure, roof framing, building envelope, building interior construction, finishes, and building systems. Such systems include electrical power, lighting, special systems, fire suppression systems, heating, air-conditioning and ventilating systems, security systems, telecommunications systems, plumbing systems, and alarm systems.
Site improvements include utility line connections, new fencing, pavements, drainage structures, and extensions of existing campus systems to serve the new building.
The design and construction of a new, single- story dormitory consisting of four detainee pods , each with a capacity of 60 people, served by a central security core and internal circulation system. Building systems and associated areas required by security staff will also be located in the core and circulation areas. The new building should be architecturally compatible with other structures on the SPC campus.
In general, the new facility shall contain the following:
Centralized guard station
Four dayroom dormitory pods or modules that each have the capacity for 60 detainees.
Each pod consists of a dayroom with two-tier sleeping bunks, tables and chairs, television, phone booths, restroom, showers, and messaging board, janitor closet, prayer area, water fountain, and separate room for non-emergency first aid triage.
Building systems include staff restrooms, control room, telecommunications room, electrical room, mechanical equipment room, and staff work area.
A complete electronic security and surveillance system
The occupancy classification for code requirements is Detention and Correctional per NFPA 101.
