CI / CRAISL-CI251/ DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT AROUND THE TRUCK LOADING SHED

Type: Forecast

Overview

Description
The existing truck loading facility drainage is deficient and the area floods during heavy rain events. A construction project in 2013 changed the drainage path from the area around the truck loading stand. The modification resulted in restricted flow from the area and caused the current flooding problem. The basic problem is the open ditch elevation, along the roadway, is not low enough to allow rain water to flow out of the area. To correct this the open ditch needs to be replaced with buried drainage culvert. The underground culverts and open drainage ditches need to be modified and re-graded to allow proper flow in order to drain the area. This will require installing new underground drain piping, road culverts, drop inlets, and paving repairs where road cuts are made. The length of new drainage piping is approximately 900 feet and there are three road crossings.Current situation requires the area be manually pumped out to keep the truck loading area dry. When the area is not dry loading trucks is not possible. Design should be started in FY23 for construction award in Fy24.
