Overview
Description
USASMDC is to develop and provide current and future global space, missile defense, and high-altitude capabilities to the Army, joint force, and other Government agencies supporting our allies and partners, and to enable multi-domain combat effects; enhance deterrence, assurance, and detection of strategic attacks; and protect the nation. To meet its mission, USASMDC requires engineering and scientific expertise to identify and mature appropriate technologies and develop operational prototypes. USASMDC also requires creation of technology, development of architectural concepts for rapid transition of maturing technologies to the field, analysis of current and planned systems and components, and systems testing and fielding support. Additionally, USASMDC's mission has expanded to include the development and operation of small satellites, miniaturized sensors and the ground and mission data processing required to support those systems. In support of its mission, USASMDC has identified an alignment between its requirements and the past performance, expertise, and laboratories.
