Description
The Training Devices program within the Navy is focused on enhancing the Marine Corps' training infrastructure to support combat readiness and modern warfare requirements. This initiative is part of the broader Marine Corps Force Design 2030, which seeks to address current limitations in training systems by modernizing the Live, Virtual, Constructive - Training Environment (LVC-TE). The program emphasizes procuring Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) systems, integrating existing Navy and Joint training capabilities to improve training effectiveness.
A key component of this program is the Combined Arms Command and Control Trainer Upgrade System (CACCTUS). This system transitions legacy simulation capabilities to a multi-domain fires simulation environment, providing Marines with an immersive training experience that includes 2D and 3D visuals, communication elements, and After-Action Review capabilities. The goal is to enhance skills in command, control, and coordination of supporting arms across various levels of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF).
Additionally, the Deployable Virtual Training Environment (DVTE), now known as the Marine Common Virtual Platform (MCVP), offers portable simulation systems for Infantry Battalion weapons training. This system allows Marines to conduct training in diverse environments such as aboard ships or remote locations. The program also includes Force on Force Training Systems (FoFTS), which provide realistic non-live fire capabilities for tactical engagement training using advanced laser-based systems.
The Family of Combat Vehicle Training System (FCVTS) and Indoor Simulated Marksmanship Trainer (ISMT) are other significant elements aimed at improving vehicle convoy operations and marksmanship skills without live ammunition. These systems are designed to ensure proficiency in various combat scenarios while aligning with the Force Design 2030 objectives. These initiatives aim to maintain technical and tactical advantages over adversaries by providing comprehensive and realistic training environments for Marines.
