Description
The Tactical Air Control Party - Modernization (TACP-M) program is a significant initiative within the Air Force Special Warfare (AFSPECWAR). It focuses on enhancing the capabilities of Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) units, which play a crucial role in executing precision strike, integration, and all-domain command and control missions. These missions are vital for the Air Force's power projection and joint force maneuverability. The program aims to equip TACP Airmen with advanced communications and targeting equipment to improve battlefield awareness and management across various domains.

A key aspect of the TACP-M program is the development of software systems like CASS 1.4.5 and WARHAWK. These systems are intended to modernize command, control, communications, and cybersecurity processing in mobile operations centers and tactical vehicles. The objective is to ensure seamless communication between operations centers and TACP units in high-combat areas. This modernization effort seeks to enhance interoperability with other joint warfighters by integrating Digitally-Aided Close Air Support (DACAS) software with various communication networks.

The program also emphasizes innovation through studies, analyses, and quick-reaction capability prototypes to accelerate technology transition into future acquisition programs. Collaboration with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs supports this strategy by fostering technological advancements. Additionally, there is an effort to standardize equipment across AFSPECWAR by jointly developing software with related programs, thereby improving efficiency and reducing costs.

Looking forward, the TACP-M program plans to continue agile software development with regular updates across TACP systems. This includes ongoing support for the Special Warfare Assault Kit (SWAK) and Dismounted Special Warfare software. The integration of WARHAWK with ASOC-Mod software acquisition will continue, along with testing DACAS software interfaces to enhance interoperability among military networks. These efforts demonstrate a commitment to maintaining cutting-edge capabilities for TACP units in response to evolving operational needs and threat environments.
