Small Diameter Bomb

Small Diameter Bomb is a procurement program under the Air Force's Missile Procurement budget activity. The specific goal of this program is to provide increased kills per sortie on current and future aircraft platforms. It addresses warfighter requirements such as multiple kills per pass, adverse weather capability, precision munitions capability, and reduced munitions footprint. The program aims to support current combat operations and replenish SDB I weapons and its variants used in these operations. Additionally, it invests in infrastructure upgrades supporting the development and sustainment of the program's capabilities while leveraging enterprise IT solutions.

The objectives of Program SDB000 include the procurement of Small Diameter Bomb Increment I (SDB I) and its variants, including Focused Lethality Munition (FLM) and Laser SDB. The program aims to leverage common component development to reduce redundant costs between systems with similar subsystem requirements. It also focuses on addressing Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) issues by integrating qualified Strategic Anti-Jam Beam-forming Receiver (SABR-Y) and M-Code capable GPS receivers. Furthermore, the funding may be used to resolve performance deficiencies identified in the system through studies, bridge buys, life of type buys, supplier/parts replacement, and qualification activities to preserve future production capabilities and capacities.
