2034A - Procurement of Ammunition, Army
Description
REACTIVE ARMOR TILES managed by the Army's Procurement of Ammunition, is aimed at enhancing the survivability of military vehicles by providing reactive armor tiles that react to threats, reducing or eliminating damage to the protected vehicle. The program supports the Directed Requirement for Reactive Armor Tiles and Installation Kits for five armored brigade combat teams, comprising multiple combat platform types. Additionally, it includes the production of US government-developed tiles to meet Total Munitions Requirements and replace consumed tiles. The Vehicle Protection System office oversees the accountability and acquisition of tiles, ensuring their availability for ground combat systems.
The primary objective of the REACTIVE ARMOR TILES program is to enhance vehicle survivability through the procurement and distribution of reactive armor tiles for military vehicles. This includes achieving the Directed Requirement for five armored brigade combat teams and meeting Total Munitions Requirements established by G-3/5/7. The program also involves painting newly procured tiles with new signature management paint and refurbishing legacy tiles as part of the production process. Furthermore, it supports homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and military support to civil authorities in accordance with Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181).
