MK-54 Torpedo Mods

The MK-54 Torpedo Mods program aims to enhance the Navy's anti-submarine warfare capabilities through the procurement and modification of torpedoes. This initiative focuses on upgrading existing torpedo systems, specifically the MK-54 MOD 0 and MOD 1 kits, which incorporate advanced technologies to improve performance in various maritime environments. Additionally, the program includes the development of the High Altitude Anti-Submarine Warfare Weapon Capability (HAAWC), enabling the P-8A aircraft to deploy lightweight torpedoes from higher altitudes, thereby extending their operational range.

The primary objectives of the MK-54 Torpedo Mods program include enhancing the torpedo's effectiveness in shallow water and counter-countermeasure environments. The MOD 0 version integrates proven technologies with state-of-the-art commercial processors. The MOD 1 builds upon these improvements to further increase capability in littoral zones. Engineering services support design changes and address obsolescence challenges that arise during contract execution. The initiative also includes resources for fleet exercise systems used in testing and training scenarios, as well as support equipment maintenance at Naval Undersea Warfare Centers.
