Description
The Mechanized Material Handling Equipment (MMHE) program provides funding for Mechanized Materials Handling Systems (MMHS) and Storage Aids Systems (SAS) for the Air Force. This includes the design and acquisition of mechanized and non-mechanized materials handling systems to modernize and enhance supply operations, base-level aircraft maintenance, air transportation missions, and other warehouse and storage processes. The specific equipment types include Material Storage and Distribution Systems, Storage Aids Systems, Aerial Port Equipment for air transportation, and External Aircraft Fuel Tank Storage Systems. The goals of this program are to increase productivity, enhance management control of assets, reduce multiple handling of logistics material, enhance safety, reduce losses due to damage of material during storage and transport, and reduce congestion and delays in receiving, storage, and issue operations.
The Mechanized Material Handling Equipment (MMHE) program is essential for maintaining and enhancing rapid deployment and sustainment capabilities for the Air Force. The FY24 procurement funds for MMHS/SAS equipment aim to increase the productivity of Air Force operations, enhance management control of assets, reduce multiple handling of logistics material by consolidating assets, enhance safety, reduce losses due to damage of material during storage and transport, and reduce congestion and delays in the receiving, storage, and issue operations in supply, base-level aircraft maintenance, air transportation, and other warehouse and storage facilities. The specific procurement quantities for FY24 include 5 material storage and distribution systems, 8 storage aid systems, and 8 aerial port equipment systems. Additionally, Program Management Administration funds for other Government costs are included in this budget line item.
