Description
The Light Tactical Wheeled Vehicles program is designed to enhance the tactical mobility of various Army units, such as the Infantry Brigade Combat Teams, Security Forces Assistance Brigade, and the 75th Ranger Regiment. The primary goal is to motorize these units with the Infantry Squad Vehicle to enable rapid movement on the battlefield. This capability is crucial for military operations like crisis response and initial entry missions. The vehicle is built for global deployment via sea, air, and land, aligning with Army and Joint doctrine for strategic deployment and operational maneuver.

Additionally, the program focuses on developing electric Light Reconnaissance Vehicles to provide commanders with a competitive edge in Multi-Domain Operations. These vehicles aim to reduce acoustic and thermal signatures, offer silent mobility, increase dash speed, extend range, enhance reliability, and decrease Class III requirements. These features are intended to improve the lethality and survivability of reconnaissance squads. The electric Infantry Squad Vehicle also uses commercial off-the-shelf battery electric drive systems to achieve similar advantages in these environments.

Modernization efforts include technology insertions such as predictive logistics, vetronics, Victory Architecture, and autonomous operations. Initial prototypes are being developed to refine operational requirements and gather early user feedback for future sustainment concepts. Ground Mobility Vehicles activities involve pursuing rapid prototyping for electric Light Reconnaissance Vehicles through contracts with multiple vendors. This initiative supports the procurement of prototypes and associated management support.

The High Mobility Multipurpose Vehicle Hybrid Electric Vehicle component introduces fuel demand reduction capabilities through hybrid propulsion systems. This effort aims to enhance maneuver operations by providing onboard power, export power, silent watch capabilities, and potentially silent mobility. The program plans to design, develop, and test these prototypes to inform future production decisions based on performance evaluations.
