Description
The Joint Tactical Terminal/Common Interactive Broadcast Service-Modernization (JTT/CIBS-M) program is a significant initiative under the Army's Network Modernization Priority. Managed by the Joint Program Office for Integrated Broadcast Service Terminals, it supports all Joint Services and the Special Operations Command. The primary goal is to modernize and sustain Integrated Broadcast Service terminals that are compatible with Ultra High Frequency Satellite Communications broadcasts. These efforts are crucial for areas such as Air and Missile Defense, Long Range Precision Fires, Soldier Lethality, and Network Command, Control, Communications, and Intelligence Cross Functional Teams.
The program aims to maintain interoperability across various tactical producers and consumers within the Joint Services. The office responsible oversees life cycle management through acquisition, fielding support, and sustainment of JTT equipment. A key objective is to replace existing Joint Tactical Terminals with a Next Generation non-developmental item due to obsolescence and high sustainment costs of current configurations. This transition involves coordination for Communication Security, Common Interactive Broadcast, and Common Message Format support.
In fiscal year 2025, efforts will focus on transitioning to organic depot facilitation and sustainment. This includes contractor engineering, logistics support, and fielding support documentation for all terminals. The program also emphasizes software sustainment and maintenance activities such as cybersecurity and configuration management. Additionally, hardware sustainment efforts will involve depot analysis, operational initial spares provisioning, integrated logistics support manpower allocation, and technical manual preparation.
The JTT/CIBS-M program seeks to enhance the Army's tactical intelligence capabilities by ensuring that its communication systems remain modernized and fully operational across all service branches. By focusing on both hardware and software upgrades along with comprehensive logistics support, it aims to provide reliable and secure communication channels essential for mission success in various operational environments.
