JSF STOVL

The Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) STOVL falls under the Navy's Aircraft Procurement budget activity and aims to support the development and fielding of a family of aircraft that meets the needs of the Department of Defense (DoD) and its allies. Specifically, this program focuses on the F-35B Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) variant. The program's main objectives include ensuring commonality among the three F-35 variants to minimize life cycle costs and maintaining global air superiority. The FY24 Advance Procurement funding will support Airframe and Engine Termination Liability, as well as long-lead parts and materials necessary to protect the delivery schedule of FY2025 JSF aircraft.

The JSF STOVL program is a joint effort with no executive service, and the Service Acquisition Executive (SAE) authority alternates between the Department of Navy (DON) and Department of Air Force (DAF), currently residing with the Navy. The program aims to procure aircraft with Advance Procurement/long lead, which would result in critical 12-month time savings for delivery compared to aircraft procured without Advance Procurement. This funding will be used towards Air Vehicle suppliers/systems such as TR3 Components, Bulkhead forgings, landing gear, electronic warfare components, fuselage components, communication systems, radar components, wing skins, controls, body apertures, actuators, and wings. Additionally, it will support propulsion suppliers/systems including engine hardware and signal conditioning units to protect delivery schedules.
