Joint Strike Fighter CV

The Joint Strike Fighter CV is a joint program between the Department of Navy (DON) and the Department of Air Force (DAF) to develop and field a family of aircraft that meets the needs of the Department of Defense (DoD) and its allies. The program aims to deliver the F-35A Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) variant, F-35B Short Take-Off and Vertical Landing (STOVL) variant, and F-35C Carrier Variant (CV) with optimum commonality among the three variants to minimize life cycle costs. The specific goal of this budget line item is to request advance procurement funding for FY2025 long-lead materials necessary to protect the Lot 19 delivery schedule. This funding will support Airframe and Engine Termination Liability, ensuring critical 12-month time savings for delivery of aircraft procured with advance procurement/long lead.

The Joint Strike Fighter CV program's objective is to ensure that aircraft procured with advance procurement/long lead deliver one year earlier than those without such provisions. This will provide critical time savings for the delivery of aircraft. The funding request includes support for Airframe and Engine Termination Liability, as well as long-lead parts and materials necessary to protect the delivery schedule of FY2025 JSF aircraft buy. The program seeks to maintain global air superiority by developing next-generation strike fighters that meet the needs of DoD and its allies. Additionally, it aims to minimize life cycle costs through optimum commonality among the three variants. The Joint Strike Fighter CV program is a joint effort with no executive service, and the Service Acquisition Executive (SAE) authority alternates between the Department of Navy (DON) and Department of Air Force (DAF), currently residing with the Navy.
