Description

The LI 6670 - Items Less Than $5 Million program within the Navy's FY 2026 budget request encompasses a range of procurement activities under the Marine Corps, specifically targeting engineer and other support equipment acquisitions. The overarching goal of this line item is to address readiness, modernization, and sustainment requirements for Marine Corps tactical ground and support assets. By aggregating multiple smaller procurement efforts, the program enables rapid response to evolving operational needs and ensures that critical support systems remain current and effective in contested and expeditionary environments.

Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPAC) is a key component of this budget line. The CPAC program is designed to extend the lifecycle of Marine Corps tactical ground and support equipment by mitigating the effects of corrosion, particularly in saltwater and other corrosive environments. The program office oversees preventive and corrective actions, including the procurement of replacement collateral equipment such as compressors, blast booths, and hazardous waste reduction equipment. These efforts support the Fleet Marine Force (FMF) and align with increased requirements for equipment replacement, directly contributing to total ownership cost reduction and improved operational readiness.

Marine Corps Family of Containers (MCFC) supports the procurement of Quadruple Containers (QuadCons). These containers provide standardized, intermodal transport solutions compatible with international shipping standards. The MCFC program supports the movement and storage of supplies and equipment, facilitating efficient logistics for field units. The procurement schedule is aligned with the Approved Acquisition Objective (AAO), ensuring that Marine Corps units maintain the necessary capability for global deployment and supply chain operations.

Family of Shelters and Shelters Equipment (FSSE) focuses primarily on the acquisition of the next generation Ultra-Lightweight Camouflage Net System (ULCANS Increment 1). This system enhances battlefield concealment by providing signature suppression across the infrared spectrum and RADAR protection, supporting Force Design 2030 objectives. FSSE also includes expeditionary shelters, heaters, and lighting systems that serve as berthing quarters, command posts, and maintenance shops. These assets are vital for Marine operations in austere and contested environments.

Family of Expeditionary Water Systems (FEWS) centers on the continued procurement of modification kits for the Lightweight Water Purification System (LWPS). FEWS provides essential water purification, storage, distribution, and hygiene support for Marines operating in forward areas, including those established under Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO) and Littoral Operations in Contested Environments (LOCE). This capability is critical for ensuring the health and sustainability of personnel in remote and challenging operational settings.

Engineer Modification Kits (EMK) enable upgrades and safety enhancements for over 47,000 pieces of engineering equipment across 120 Table of Authorized Material Control Numbers (TAMCNs). EMK funding addresses armor installations, legacy equipment modifications, and rapid response to engineering change proposals, directly supporting fleet readiness and safety. This line item also provides for quick response capabilities in support of Quality Deficiency Report analysis and sustainment engineering.

LI 6670 - Items Less Than $5 Million is structured to deliver targeted, cost-effective solutions for Marine Corps support equipment needs. The program's objectives include maintaining fleet readiness, supporting force modernization, and enabling expeditionary operations through the timely procurement and modification of essential systems. By aggregating multiple smaller procurement efforts under a single line item, the program provides flexibility and responsiveness to changing operational requirements, ensuring the Marine Corps remains equipped to meet current and future challenges.
