Description
The DoD Enterprise Energy Information Management (EEIM) program, under the Office of the Secretary of Defense, is designed to support the National Defense Strategy by modernizing key capabilities and reforming business practices. This initiative focuses on enhancing energy efficiency, real property accountability, and data quality across sustainment business functions. A significant goal is to maintain accurate data for all Department of Defense (DoD) real property assets through Business Process Re-engineering activities and the development of data standards. The program also supports the Assistant Secretary of Defense's accountability requirements by reconciling enterprise real property inventory records and developing asset management processes.
A major component of the EEIM program is the Real Property Information Management (RPIM) platform, which aims to improve data quality and interoperability with service systems. This platform supports audit readiness and life-cycle asset management activities by providing an enterprise view of asset management from acquisition to disposal. The RPIM initiative includes developing an enterprise data warehouse to integrate existing and future sustainment systems, ensuring improved data quality for multiple analyses. Additionally, it involves implementing a Real Property Unique Identifier process within this system.
The DoD Siting Clearinghouse is another critical aspect of the EEIM program, tasked with identifying technical mitigation measures to address radar degradation caused by industrial wind turbine development. This effort involves collaboration with Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) to explore potential technical improvements to radar systems. The Clearinghouse's research aims to refine solutions that mitigate adverse effects on military radar while working closely with industry partners.
The EEIM program strives to enhance decision-making through timely access to accurate data via platforms like the Data Analytics and Integration Support (DAIS). By hosting data stores for energy resiliency and construction management, the program ensures that DoD operations are supported by robust information management systems. These efforts align with broader strategic objectives of increasing performance, affordability, and minimizing risk within defense operations.
