2034A - Procurement of Ammunition, Army
Description
The Demolition Munitions, All Types program is a comprehensive initiative by the U.S. Army focused on procuring various demolition munitions to support training and combat operations. This program includes a wide range of munitions, such as the M17A1 Receiver for remote activation of demolition charges, the M112 C-4 demolition block, and the Bangalore Torpedo for clearing obstacles. Each munition type serves specific operational purposes like breaching, cutting, or cratering targets and is approved for service use.
A primary goal of this program is to maintain a robust inventory of demolition munitions that meet the Army's operational and training requirements. Procurement efforts align with the Army's war reserve and training objectives, ensuring that both active and reserve components are adequately equipped. The FY 2025 request includes resources for engineering support and production of various munitions like the 40LB Cratering Demolition Block Charge and Detonating Cord Type 1.
The program emphasizes engineering support for items in production to ensure quality and safety standards are met throughout their lifecycle. This includes production engineering for items like the M186 Demolition Charge and Cutter Cartridge Actuated M21. Some items, such as the Selectable Lightweight Attack Munition (SLAM), do not have a request for FY 2025 but remain part of the overall inventory strategy.
The Demolition Munitions program is integral to sustaining the Army's capability to conduct effective demolition operations in diverse environments. By focusing on both procurement and engineering support, this program aims to enhance readiness and operational effectiveness across various mission scenarios.
