Description
The Combat Training Centers Support program plays a crucial role in the Army's preparation of Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) and their joint partners for deployment. It focuses on enhancing the capabilities of the National Training Center (NTC), Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC), and Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC). The primary aim is to develop agile and adaptive leaders at various levels, providing comprehensive training necessary for decisive action in dynamic environments. This program emphasizes Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) training rotations to achieve its objectives.
A significant element of this program is the Combat Training Center Instrumentation System (CTC-IS), which offers a realistic operational environment for training BCTs. This system includes various subsystems such as voice, video, and data networks that enhance situational awareness, safety, analysis, and feedback during training exercises. The CTC-IS supports After Action Reviews (AARs) by providing critical insights into training performance. To ensure evolving capabilities and prevent obsolescence, the system undergoes continuous modernization and lifecycle activities.
The program also features initiatives like the Training Aircraft Survivability Equipment Stimulation Suite (TASS) and Threat Integrated Air Defense System (TIADS). TASS aids U.S. Army helicopters during live training exercises by simulating operational environments with ground threat emitters and aircraft survivability equipment. TIADS improves training realism by replicating enemy air defense systems, challenging units with opposing force threats. These components are vital for maintaining readiness against current or projected threats.
Additionally, the Opposing Forces Surrogate Wheeled Vehicles (OSWV) program enhances battlefield simulations by providing technical wheeled vehicles and visual modifications that mimic opposing forces and civilian environments. The Independent Commercially Compatible Cellular Network System (IC3NS) enriches training further by simulating adversarial communication networks, allowing units to practice network exploitation and defeat tasks. Together, these efforts equip Army units with the skills necessary for successful operations in complex scenarios.
