BRADLEY FIRE SUPPORT TEAM (BFIST) VEHICLE

GZ3300 the Bradley Fire Support Team (BFIST) Vehicle, is a procurement program aimed at replacing the aging M981 Fire Support Vehicle used by the Fire Support Team (FIST) in the Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCT) of the U.S. Army. The primary goal of this program is to enhance battlefield success by accurately locating and designating targets and developing and executing fire support plans. The BFIST vehicles contribute to this objective by enabling company Fire Support Teams (FIST) and company fire support officers to plan, coordinate, and execute timely, accurate indirect artillery and mortar fires. Additionally, the program aims to upgrade all BFIST vehicles with advanced technology, including Fire Observer Software (FOS) on the Mounted Family of Computer System (MFoCS), TALIN 5000 Inertial Navigation Unit (INU), and Target Accuracy upgrades to meet Category I (CAT I) Target Location Error (TLE) specifications.

The program also focuses on mitigating obsolescence issues through field modifications and improving target accuracy. It supports the integration of modernized Bradley Common Display (BCD) for all BFIST vehicles and addresses safety concerns, obsolete components, software maintenance, cyber updates, and operator/technical manual updates. Furthermore, it is necessary for use by the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities in accordance with section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110 - 181). Overall, the program aims to ensure that BFIST vehicles remain operationally effective within the ABCT formation until the 2050s.
