TRUCK, DUMP, 20T (CCE)

The TRUCK, DUMP, 20T (CCE) program is focused on modernizing the Army's fleet of heavy dump trucks through the acquisition of the M917A3 Heavy Dump Truck (HDT). This vehicle is designed to improve the Army's capabilities in construction and maintenance tasks, supporting operations such as building and maintaining supply routes, logistical facilities, and airfields. The M917A3 is based on a commercial platform and can be equipped with armor solutions that meet specific ballistic specifications, enhancing both crew protection and vehicle survivability.

A key objective of this program is to replace aging models like the F5070, M917, and M917A1/A2 HDTs, some of which are over 50 years old. The new trucks aim to meet current Army readiness goals by addressing challenges such as difficulty in obtaining repair parts for older models. By acquiring these modern vehicles, the program supports Combat Support Engineer units in fulfilling mission requirements across various operational environments.

The program aligns with broader strategic goals such as Multi Domain Operations (MDO) and Large-Scale Combat Operations (LSCO), offering enhanced debris hauling capabilities crucial for mobility and survivability. It also supports the Joint Concept for Contested Logistics by ensuring that combat commanders maintain their operational capabilities. The acquisition process includes system engineering oversight and logistics support functions to ensure successful fielding and documentation.

In line with legislative mandates like Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act, this program also contributes to homeland defense missions and domestic emergency responses. The procurement strategy involves a phased approach with deliveries scheduled over several years, involving contractors like Mack Defense, LLC. This structured approach ensures that the Army can systematically replace its legacy fleet while maintaining operational readiness.
