Description
The Synthetic Training Environment Refinement & Prototyping program is focused on modernizing the Army's training capabilities. It aims to create a comprehensive and integrated training environment that allows leaders, Soldiers, and units to train in complex operational settings that closely resemble real-world scenarios. This initiative includes the development of advanced software systems, virtual trainers, and live training systems to support Multi-Domain Operations (MDO).
A key component of this effort is the STE Information Systems (TSS, TMT), which integrates live, virtual, gaming, and constructive environments into a unified training platform. This system facilitates collective training from Soldier/Squad levels up to Army Service Component Command levels. The program's goals include refining brigade-level training capabilities and enhancing warfighting functions such as Intelligence, Sustainment, Cyber, and Protection. The development process employs a DevSecOps approach to ensure rapid and iterative delivery of capabilities.
The STE Live initiative is another significant aspect of the program. It focuses on developing next-generation live training systems that replicate various engagement types and improve sensory feedback for realistic combat simulations. This effort seeks to replace outdated systems and enhance Soldier capability through innovative technologies. Additionally, the One World Terrain (OWT) component provides a 3D global terrain capability for virtual replication of complex environments.
Furthermore, the Reconfigurable Virtual Trainer (RVCT) supports collective maneuver training and mission rehearsal for air and ground platforms. This trainer is designed to be transportable, allowing units to train at any location worldwide. Complementing these efforts is the Soldier Virtual Trainer (SVT), which integrates individual Soldier training capabilities such as Weapon Skills Development and Joint Fires Training into a single immersive platform. These initiatives collectively aim to transform Army training by offering realistic and adaptable solutions for future operational challenges.
