Description
The SATCOM Ground Environment (SPACE) program is a comprehensive initiative supporting the Army's strategic goals for 2030 and 2040. Project 253, Dscs-Dcs (Phase II), focuses on developing Satellite Communication (SATCOM) ground subsystem equipment and software to meet the Joint Chiefs of Staff's Mission Command Network and Systems requirements. This project aims to enhance the Defense Enterprise Wideband SATCOM System (DEWSS), which includes the Super High Frequency Wideband Global SATCOM programs. The goal is to expand and upgrade these capabilities to support power projection and rapid deployment missions, ensuring high-capacity tactical connectivity and interoperability with strategic networks.
Project 456, MILSATCOM System Engineering, aligns with the Army Network Modernization Strategy by ensuring that tactical Army SATCOM systems are engineered for global operation. This project emphasizes shaping Joint SATCOM systems' design efforts and standards development while representing the Army's interests in various forums. The objective is to ensure affordable, scalable future SATCOM capabilities for maneuver forces, synchronized with Space Force and Department of Defense plans. Additionally, this project supports obtaining certifications for Tactical Network systems and integrates emerging technologies within the Tactical Network portfolio.
Project CO7, Protected Tactical Satellite Communications, addresses the need for resilient communications in contested environments. This project focuses on developing the Resilient Anti-Jam Modem (RAM) to provide adaptive anti-jam communications for mobile ground forces. The initiative supports initial development, testing, and certification of Protected Tactical Waveform modems to enhance protected communications capabilities. Collaboration with the United States Space Force ensures alignment with broader defense strategies, aiming to protect against interference during critical operations.
The SATCOM Ground Environment (SPACE) program encompasses a range of projects designed to modernize and enhance satellite communication capabilities across various domains. By focusing on system engineering, technology integration, and protected communications development, these projects aim to support strategic military objectives while ensuring resilience and adaptability in evolving operational environments.
