3011F - Procurement of Ammunition, Air Force
Description
Practice Bombs falls under the Air Force's Procurement of Ammunition budget activity. The specific objectives of this program include the procurement of various non-explosive training shapes and signal cartridges used for aircrew weapons delivery training. These items, such as the BDU-56D/B, BDU-50/B, MK-84 Inert, BDU-33, MK4 Mod 3 Signal Cartridge, and CXU-3A/B Signal Cartridge, are procured through the Single Manager for Conventional Ammunition (SMCA)/Army. The program aims to support combat forces with aircrew training and to address critical shortfalls in inventory objectives for homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and military support to civil authorities.
The primary goal of Program 353010 is to ensure the availability of essential training munitions for the active and reserve components of the Armed Forces. By procuring non-explosive training shapes and signal cartridges through the SMCA/Army, the program supports combat air forces with aircrew weapons delivery training. Additionally, this program addresses critical inventory shortfalls and supports homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and military support to civil authorities as mandated by Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181). The funding for this exhibit is contained in PE 0207599F and may be used to address Diminishing Manufacturing Sources (DMS) issues.
