Physical Security Vehicles

The Physical Security Vehicles program under the Navy's Civil Engineering Support Equipment initiative aims to enhance security measures through the procurement of specialized vehicles. These vehicles, including armored sedans and cargo/utility trucks, are designated for Antiterrorism, Counterintelligence, and Counternarcotics missions, particularly in high-threat overseas locations. The primary objective is to ensure that personnel operating in these environments have access to reliable and secure transportation capable of withstanding various threat levels.

The program focuses on acquiring Commercial Heavy Armored Vehicles (CHAVs) and Commercial Light Armored Vehicles (CLAVs), which are tailored to meet specific protection requirements based on the operational context. The vehicles are procured with varying levels of armor protection, depending on the anticipated threats and environmental conditions. This strategic approach allows for flexibility in deployment, ensuring that the Navy can effectively respond to diverse security challenges across different regions.

A key component of this program involves collaboration with contractors such as BZ Defense LLC, based in San Diego, California. The procurement process is managed through Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests, with planned deliveries scheduled annually.
