0300D - Procurement, Defense-Wide
Description
The Other Major Equipment program under the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is designed to support mission-critical initiatives aimed at enhancing national security. One of its primary goals is to enable the Nuclear Arms Control Technology (NACT) program to fulfill its operational responsibilities. This involves upgrading and maintaining U.S. International Monitoring System stations, crucial for nuclear arms control verification and monitoring. Additionally, the program focuses on the virtualization of the Defense Stockpile Management System (DSMS), which includes managing nuclear weapons stockpile data through systems like DIAMONDS.
Another significant objective is to modernize and maintain advanced cyber assessment systems, previously known as Black Rhino Assessment Systems. These systems are intended to provide portable cybersecurity solutions equipped with next-generation technologies, although they have been realigned to a different program starting in FY 2024. The program also emphasizes the procurement of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) to support both domestic and international missions, ensuring efficient handling of supplies in challenging terrains.
The program further aims to enhance data analytics capabilities through platforms like Catapult, which provides intelligence and analytics support for addressing emerging threats. It also includes life-cycle replacements for Joint Expeditionary Kits (JEKs), offering warfighters essential analytical tools in remote locations with limited infrastructure. Additionally, investments are made in IT infrastructure at DTRA's Kirtland AFB location and other facilities to ensure robust network functionality.
Lastly, the Other Major Equipment program supports training initiatives through acquiring components for the Joint DoD Radiation Detection System (RDS). This system is used at the Defense Nuclear Weapons School to train service members in operating within radiological environments. These efforts reflect a comprehensive approach to maintaining and enhancing critical defense capabilities across various domains.
