Description
The NCMC - TW/AA System, part of the Air Force's operational systems development, focuses on enhancing the Integrated Tactical Warning and Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) capabilities of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) Cheyenne Mountain Complex. This initiative aims to provide timely and continuous warnings of air, missile, and space threats to North America and other geographical areas. It integrates missile launch and air surveillance data from certified sources to assess potential threats and issue alerts to key national leaders, including the President of the United States and Canadian National Leadership.

A significant goal is to ensure that NORAD, US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM), US Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), and US Space Command (USSPACECOM) have the necessary information management tools for strategic operations. The system supports nuclear command and control (NC2) and detonation detection, providing critical data communication between external sensors and end users. The Combatant Commanders Integrated Command and Control System (CCIC2S) plays a crucial role in integrating air, missile warning missions, and space operations functions.

The program emphasizes enhancing situational awareness through ITW/AA C2 integration with non-traditional data sources like Global Data Integration (GDI) and C2BMC. This integration aims to improve threat assessment accuracy by incorporating high-fidelity data from various sources, thus reducing decision-making time in high-threat environments. Additionally, the Missile Warning/Missile Track (MW/MT) Enhancement seeks to address emerging non-traditional ballistic missile threats by integrating new sensor data into existing systems.

Furthermore, the ITW/AA System of Systems Integration ensures proper coordination among multiple ITW/AA system offices within the USSF and USAF. This effort includes developing an Emerging Threat Lab using modern technology to consolidate intelligence on current missile threats. The lab supports algorithm development for timely missile warnings. Project Tombstone is another initiative aimed at improving test assessments and exercises to enhance understanding of system responses in wartime scenarios. These efforts collectively aim to maintain accurate, timely, unambiguous threat assessments for national security decision-makers.
