Multi-Function Electronic Warfare (MFEW) Syst

The Multi-Function Electronic Warfare (MFEW) program is an initiative by the Army to enhance tactical commanders' electronic warfare capabilities. The MFEW Air Large system aims to provide offensive electronic attack capabilities, including non-kinetic fires to deny, degrade, or disrupt enemy communications and emitters. It also supports electronic warfare by enabling the search, interception, identification, and localization of electromagnetic energy sources for immediate threat recognition and future operations planning.

The program facilitates the dissemination of Military Information Support Operations products and supports offensive cyber operations and multi-domain operations. The Army Futures Command has recognized MFEW-AL as a "Priority 2 Critical Enabler," with endorsements from various Cross-Functional Teams such as Long Range Precision Fires and Future Vertical Lift. This designation highlights its importance in aligning with Army 2030 priorities.

Regarding procurement objectives, the program plans to acquire four Low Rate Initial Production units in FY 2025, consisting of two refurbished systems and two new systems. Lockheed Martin in Owego, NY, is responsible for production under a firm-fixed-price contract. The strategy includes focusing on both new production and refurbishment to optimize resource allocation while meeting operational requirements.

The MFEW program's objectives are aligned with enhancing the Army's electronic warfare capabilities through strategic investments in technology that supports both current operational needs and future combat scenarios.
