Description
The MOD of In-Svc Equipment (ENFIRE) program is focused on modernizing and enhancing the capabilities of the Army's engineering and reconnaissance systems. This initiative supports homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and military support to civil authorities. It leverages Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) components to ensure that the equipment remains up-to-date and interoperable with existing Army enterprise systems. These modernization efforts are critical for maintaining a strong security posture and ensuring effective integration with other tactical communication systems.

A primary goal of the ENFIRE program is to enhance the Army's ability to conduct reconnaissance, route clearance, obstacle reporting, construction management, survey support, and terrain analysis. By automating tasks previously performed using analog methods, ENFIRE reduces time on target and allows operations from a discrete stand-off position. This improves efficiency and enhances soldier lethality by providing accurate assessments of environmental, terrain, and infrastructure features.

The program includes components like the Global Positioning System - Survey (GPS-S) and Automated Integrated Survey Instrument (AISI). GPS-S provides precise survey and positioning information necessary for operations such as construction and topographic surveys. AISI offers high-accuracy terrain data collection capabilities in areas where GPS signals may be unavailable or constrained. Both components are integral to supporting precise navigation and targeting operations, contributing to the effectiveness of military missions.

The MOD of In-Svc Equipment (ENFIRE) program ensures that the Army's engineering capabilities remain robust, flexible, and capable of meeting current and future operational demands. By focusing on modernization through COTS technology integration, it aims to deliver reliable and interoperable solutions that enhance mission readiness across various scenarios.
