Description
The Mobility Command And Control program, managed by the Air Force, aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Air Mobility Command (AMC) through a comprehensive command and control architecture. This initiative supports global airlift and air refueling missions by providing centralized control with decentralized execution. The 618th Air Operations Center (AOC) plays a pivotal role in planning, scheduling, and directing a fleet of over 1,100 mobility aircraft for various operations including combat delivery, strategic airlift, air refueling, and aeromedical evacuation.
A key objective of the program is to ensure robust connectivity across AMC's command and control systems. This involves maintaining and upgrading the Mobility Air Force (MAF) Command and Control Infrastructure at AMC's 11 bases. The infrastructure supports critical systems such as the Information Transport System (ITS), Global Combat Support System (GCSS), and Global Decision Support System (GDSS). These systems are essential for intra-base command functions like base security, emergency management, flight-line operations, maintenance, and crash response.
In fiscal year 2025, the program continues its focus on procuring advanced wired and wireless network infrastructure equipment. This includes essential components like cabling, routers, bridges, hubs, repeaters, and switches to ensure that information technology remains current. The goal is to maintain interoperability with AMC's command and control systems to meet the evolving needs of the warfighter while supporting AMC's worldwide mobility mission.
The procurement process involves collaboration with contractors such as GSA at Scott AFB to deliver necessary hardware components like servers. These efforts are scheduled with precise timelines to ensure timely delivery and integration into existing systems. By enhancing these technological capabilities, the program seeks to bolster the effectiveness of AMC's global operations.
