Description
The Management, Technical & International Support program within the Navy focuses on enhancing strategic and operational capabilities through research, development, and international cooperation. The International Cooperative RDT&E initiative aims to improve coalition interoperability and align U.S. Navy requirements with allied nations. This involves developing cooperative acquisition programs, supporting sea-based missile defense, and enhancing global maritime partnerships. Additionally, the program emphasizes executing Information Exchange Agreements with over 30 countries and participating in NATO Naval Armaments Group activities.
The Naval War College Strategic Studies Support is committed to advancing strategic and operational thought within the Navy and joint communities. It conducts research, analysis, and war gaming to generate strategic alternatives and provide recommendations for maritime options. The college's efforts include studying cyber capabilities and those of other nations such as China, Russia, and Iran. It also conducts deterrence research focused on naval contributions to national nuclear deterrence missions. Furthermore, it supports war gaming exercises that inform the Navy's Strategic Plan and future concepts assessments.
The Navy Postgraduate School (NPS) Studies Support program combines traditional research with advanced decision support tools to aid senior decision-makers in strategic planning. It supports studies across disciplines like applied mathematics, computer science, defense analysis, and systems engineering. These efforts aim to enhance graduate education for naval officers while providing critical insights into resource allocation and strategic issues facing the Navy.
The JT Mission Assessment Studies program offers capability-based planning assessments for the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS). It conducts analyses to inform warfighting capability trades and enterprise resources while identifying needs and gaps in joint capabilities. The program supports the development of modeling and simulation tools that underpin decision-making processes related to concepts of operations (CONOPS) and warfare systems. It also plays a crucial role in coordinating the Navy's position in enhanced planning processes and conducting net assessments for future force structure requirements.
