3600F - Research, Development, Test and Evaluation, Air Force
Description
The Management HQ - T&E program is dedicated to supporting the Air Force Test Center (AFTC) by funding the salaries of civilian personnel at its management headquarters. These individuals lead and direct operations of AFTC test activities, which are part of the Department of Defense's Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB). The program is part of Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) Management Support, focusing on sustaining and modernizing installations necessary for research and testing.
The primary goal is to ensure that AFTC has the leadership and administrative support needed to manage its test activities effectively. This involves maintaining a workforce capable of overseeing complex testing operations that contribute to the development and evaluation of defense technologies. By funding civilian pay, the program ensures continuity in leadership and operational guidance within AFTC.
In fiscal years 2023 through 2025, funds have been consistently allocated to cover these civilian salaries, reflecting a stable commitment to supporting AFTC's management needs. Financial adjustments made in FY23, such as transferring resources from another program element, highlight efforts to adequately fund civilian positions at an average cost per work year. This adjustment underscores the importance placed on maintaining a skilled workforce to support critical test operations.
Management HQ - T&E plays a crucial role in enabling effective test management within the Air Force by ensuring key personnel are in place to guide testing activities. This support is vital for advancing research and development initiatives that contribute to national defense capabilities.
