Description
The Landmine Warfare/Barrier - Eng Dev program is focused on advancing the engineering and manufacturing development of networked munitions, countermine systems, and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) capabilities. This initiative aligns with the National Landmine Policy by developing alternatives to non-self-destructing anti-personnel landmines and enhancing anti-access and area denial (A2/AD) strategies. The program aims to improve soldier survivability and support unified land operations through innovative technologies.
Project 016: Close Combat Capabilities is centered on developing the Next Generation Advanced Bomb Suit (NGABS) and Enhanced Robotics Payload - Render Safe (ERP-RS). NGABS is designed to enhance soldier lethality and mobility by optimizing protection for EOD personnel, incorporating advanced sensor technologies in a modular bomb suit. Meanwhile, the ERP-RS project seeks to provide EOD teams with increased standoff capabilities, allowing them to safely render safe explosive ordnances using unmanned ground vehicles equipped with dexterous manipulation systems and precision aim modules.
The Render Safe Sets Kits and Outfits (RS-SKO) project under CS2 is dedicated to equipping EOD teams with advanced tools for detecting and neutralizing explosive threats. This includes low-light visual augmentation systems, electronic countermeasures, and subsurface hazard detection technologies. The project emphasizes maintaining overmatch capabilities for Army formations by regularly updating these technologies to address obsolescence and emerging threats.
The Next Generation Advanced Bomb Suit (NGABS) project under CS3 focuses on enhancing soldier protection through innovative material research and development. It aims to reduce the weight of bomb suits while improving situational awareness with advanced heads-up displays. By integrating cutting-edge sensor technologies, NGABS seeks to increase the tactical utility of bomb suits, ensuring that EOD personnel can operate effectively in various environments while minimizing exposure to ballistic threats.
