Information Systems

The Information Systems program within the Army is dedicated to providing essential IT infrastructure and services to support various Military Construction Army (MCA) and Sustainment, Restoration, and Modernization (SRM) projects. This initiative aims to enhance communication capabilities by supplying non-tactical telecommunications equipment and engineering services for base operations. The primary objective is to ensure that all Army facilities are equipped with standardized operational processes and procedures, enabling consistent integration and delivery of voice, data, imagery, applications, and network capabilities across the Army.

A key component of this program is the Proponent/Mission IT-MCA/Physical Relocation initiative. This aspect focuses on procuring commercial-off-the-shelf end-user devices and secure data switches for both classified and unclassified connectivity. It supports various Army commands by providing mission-specific IT equipment necessary for facility renovations and new constructions. These efforts ensure that new or modernized facilities are mission-ready ahead of organizational relocations.

The Information Systems (MCA Support) segment allocates resources to develop IT infrastructure that includes Unified Capability systems, voice/data switches, and secure data gateways. This segment supports Active Army units as well as reserve components like the Army Reserves and National Guard. By ensuring these projects have all necessary IT infrastructure in place, the program facilitates seamless operations within newly constructed or renovated facilities.

Additionally, the Information Systems (CONUS/Western Hemisphere) part of the program addresses SRM projects by providing Unified Capability switches and network transport infrastructure. This ensures that facilities have the required IT infrastructure to support both homeland defense missions and military support to civil authorities. The overarching goal is to maintain a robust communication network that enhances operational readiness across all levels of the Army.
