Description
Field Feeding Equipment under the Army's Other Procurement category, aims to provide essential equipment for conducting tactical food service operations. The program supports the production of various equipment such as the Multi Temperature Refrigerated Container System (MTRCS), Assault Kitchen (AK), Containerized Kitchen (CK), and Field Feeding Sanitation Center (FSC). These items are crucial for storage, preparation, serving, and cleanup of field meals, thereby enhancing the physical and cognitive capabilities of soldiers. The program is designed to ensure that soldiers receive a minimum of one hot prepared meal per day in the field, thereby improving morale and reducing logistical support costs.
The specific objectives of the Field Feeding Equipment program include enhancing the Army's standard of providing a hot prepared meal per day in the field through the provision of field kitchens, food sanitation centers, and refrigerated containers. This program supports Army transformation and modularity concepts while maintaining readiness by integrating new equipment. Additionally, it aims to reduce related lift demands, combat zone footprint, and logistical support costs. The program also plays a critical role in supporting homeland defense missions, domestic emergency responses, and providing military support to civil authorities as mandated by Section 1815 of the FY 2008 National Defense Authorization Act (P.L. 110-181).
