Description
The Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles program is designed to align the development and demonstration of Heavy Tactical Vehicles with Multi-Domain Operations requirements. The primary objective is to support combat and combat support missions, including line haul, local haul, and unit resupply. This program encompasses various systems such as the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck, Palletized Load System, and Heavy Equipment Transporter System. These vehicles are crucial for transporting water, ammunition, and general cargo across diverse terrains and battle spaces.

The Common Tactical Truck initiative aims to modernize the Army's Tactical Wheeled Vehicle fleet by replacing existing models with a new family of vehicles. This effort focuses on leveraging commercial practices to reduce procurement costs while ensuring the vehicles are autonomy-ready. It includes a Middle Tier Acquisition Rapid Prototyping effort, which involves developing prototypes through competitive processes to evaluate their performance against desired characteristics such as digitization and autonomy readiness.

The Trailer Development project focuses on the Medium Equipment Trailer, which is essential for providing agile and responsive sustainment capabilities during Large Scale Combat Operations. The trailer is designed to transport intermediate weight combat vehicles like the Bradley Fighting Vehicle and Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicles across strategic distances. This project supports Multi-Domain Operations by facilitating maneuverability and ensuring compliance with NATO road permits.

The Leader/Follower initiative supports the Autonomous Transport Vehicle-System program, which equips tactical wheeled vehicles with autonomous driving capabilities. This enhances operational efficiency by enabling convoy commanders to utilize various levels of automated driving, thereby increasing sustainment throughput while minimizing soldier exposure to threats. The program includes developing prototypes to refine operational requirements and gather user feedback for future sustainment concepts.
