F-35 Squadrons

The F-35 Squadrons program, part of the Air Force's Research, Development, Test & Evaluation efforts, aims to advance the capabilities of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. A primary objective is to enhance the User Information Data Exchange Service (UIDES) for the F-35A variant. This involves integrating operations, maintenance, training, and financial data into existing Air Force systems. A key component is transitioning from the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS) to an Operational Data Integrated Network (ODIN).

Another goal of the program is to support the Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office in ensuring aircraft/store compatibility through rigorous testing and evaluation. This includes tasks such as envelope expansion and mixed loads testing, which are crucial for maintaining combat readiness. Additionally, the program supports the Quick Reaction Instrumentation Package (QRIP), which addresses high-capacity data recording needs for operational test and evaluation. The QRIP system reduces regression flight testing by capturing crowd-sourced flight data from operational aircraft.

The Hybrid Product Support Integrator (HPSI) within the program plays a vital role in sustaining F-35 operations globally. It integrates support across various disciplines including supply chain management, maintenance, and logistics information technology. The HPSI's efforts focus on long-term strategic planning and transitioning to a comprehensive integrated support plan. Although funding for HPSI concluded in FY2024 due to personnel transitions at Wright-Patterson AFB, its foundational work continues to impact sustainment strategies.

Lastly, the Dual Capable Aircraft (DCA) initiative focuses on equipping the F-35A with capabilities to carry both conventional and non-conventional weapons. This involves extensive planning, testing, and certification processes to ensure compliance with NATO and US defense priorities. The DCA efforts include integration of B61-12 weapons and ongoing risk reduction activities to align with future block upgrades. These initiatives highlight the program's commitment to enhancing the operational versatility and strategic deterrence capabilities of the F-35 fleet.
