Description
Enterprise Ground Services (EGS) is a program under the United States Space Force, designed to develop a scalable and modular ground segment solution for dynamic space operations. The main goal is to integrate and enhance satellite operations command and control services within cloud environments. This involves refining standards and interfaces, implementing cybersecurity measures, and maturing antenna network services to ensure robust mission planning and scheduling capabilities for both commercial and government antennas.
The Rapid Resilient Command and Control (R2C2) Combined Program Office (CPO), formed by merging EGS with Ground Command, Control, and Communications (GC3), leads this initiative. Utilizing Space RCO acquisition authorities, the R2C2 CPO focuses on developing an extensible ground segment solution capable of supporting various space operations missions. Emphasis is placed on cybersecurity, cryptography, and Zero Trust architectures to safeguard dynamic space operations capabilities.
EGS also includes pre-operations support activities that maintain hardware and software baselines, update software licenses, and provide 24/7 help-desk operations. These activities are crucial for ensuring seamless integration with mission partners who utilize R2C2 capabilities. Additionally, the program supports infrastructure technical refreshes and cybersecurity updates to maintain operational readiness.
The acquisition strategy for EGS involves awarding contracts under a small business, multiple award Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity framework in FY 2024. This approach aims to operationalize the SatOps ground segment solution while providing pre-ops support for dynamic space operations mission partners. The strategy reflects a shift towards enhancing dynamic space operations capabilities in line with revised acquisition priorities.
