Description
The C3 Countermeasures program, managed by the Air Force, aims to enhance the cyber and information warfare capabilities of the United States Air Force. This initiative focuses on providing the necessary hardware and software tools to support the AFCYBER Commander in planning, monitoring, and executing missions within the cyber domain. The program's objectives include developing and disseminating Cyberspace Tasking Orders to ensure alignment with the commander's intent. It also utilizes the latest intelligence to maintain situational awareness and integrates cyberspace threat activities into operational planning.
The AF Distributed Cyber Warfare Operations (DCWO) component of C3 Countermeasures is dedicated to supporting offensive cyberspace operations. It involves procuring specialized hardware and software to deploy capabilities across multiple mission areas. This effort supports USAF offensive cyberspace operations units, Combatant Commands (COCOMs), and other authorized agencies. The goal is to innovate, test, support, and deploy cyberspace solutions that enhance the USAF's offensive capabilities.
AF Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) under this program focuses on protecting USAF networks and systems against unauthorized intrusion and exploitation. It involves procuring commercial off-the-shelf hardware for the Integrated Defensive Cyberspace System (IDCS), which includes both mobile and fixed configurations. These systems are deployed across all Department of the Air Force bases to collect network logs and provide situational awareness of key cyberspace terrain. The DCO efforts contribute to maintaining the integrity of US Air Power by ensuring successful sortie generation.
Additionally, the Unified Platform (UP) aspect of C3 Countermeasures seeks to provide a joint cyber operations infrastructure for mission planning and execution through tactical levels of warfare. This component supports Cyber Mission Forces (CMFs), U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM), and Air Force Major Commands by procuring necessary hardware for effective deployment. The UP initiative is a collaborative effort with the Air Force as the lead service, aiming to enhance full-spectrum cyberspace operations capabilities.
